Our investment process combines a bottom-up and a top-down process. The investment process is primarily a bottom-up stock selection process involving in-depth fundamental research in order to determine the companies that PAM believes have the highest likelihood of significantly increasing shareholder value.
A top-down evaluation of the international and domestic macro-economic environment is then undertaken to determine the economic environment within which these companies will be operating. PAM then integrates investment guidelines and standard portfolio optimisation techniques to maximise the risk adjusted returns of the portfolio.
The PAM investment team has a wealth of experience across its team of highly qualified investment professionals, with average industry experience of 15 years (over 75 years experience in total).
The Patersons Australian Equity Fund
Our flagship fund is the Patersons Australian Equity Fund (formerly the Patersons Wholesale 80:20 Equity Fund), which is an Australian equities portfolio focused primarily on investments within ASX 200 companies. The Fund may also have an allocation in smaller companies and growth opportunities outside the index including investment opportunities that are usually only available to professional investors. The Patersons Australian Equity Fund has been the top performing equity fund in Australia in its category (large-cap blend) since it was launched in January 2009. It was the No.1 ranked fund in Australia for 2010.
The Patersons Australian Resources Opportunities Fund
The Patersons Australian Resources Opportunities Fund is Patersons Asset Management's newest offering and was launched on August 16th 2010. The Fund invests in a range of Australian listed resource stocks, predominantly mid-cap and small-cap companies offering exposure to both Australian and global resource opportunities. Australia offers a unique exposure to the long-term growth trend in commodities, offering a well regulated market, abundance of world-class natural resources, effective infrastructure, and proximity to the key Asian markets.
