Michael Manford

Michael Manford is Executive Chairman and CEO of Patersons Securities and Chairman of Patersons Asset Management. Michael joined Patersons in 1979 and has been Executive Chairman since 1994. He is a highly regarded industry practitioner, with over 25 years experience in all facets of the finance industry.

Michael has a strong association with the Australian Stock Exchange, being an Operator of the Australian Stock Exchange Trading Floor for 10 years and Seats Governor for over 12 years.  Since 1995 he has been a member of a number of Australian Stock Exchange Disciplinary Panels. Michael has previously been Australian Stock Exchange (Perth) Board of Advice Member, Director of the Australian Stock Exchange (Perth) and Director of the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association from 1998 to 2005.

Michael is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Master Stockbroking Member of the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association, and a Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).

Michael is also a Board Member and Finance Committee Member of the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and a Councillor of the Australian Business Arts Foundation.

Howard Knight

Howard Knight is Managing Director of Patersons Asset Management.  Howard has 20 years experience in the banking and finance industry as an investment banker and asset manager in Australia, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He was previously Head of Lehman Brothers Investment Management Division Asia/Pacific, and prior to that Head of Alternative and Quantitative Investments for UBS Global Asset Management, Singapore.

Howard has extensive knowledge and experience in both traditional and non-traditional asset management products.  He has particular experience in the use of structured and alternative investment products including real estate investment trusts, private equity, commodities, hedge funds, portable alpha and currency overlay strategies.  His expertise lies in risk management and an in-depth understanding of the risks associated with derivative instruments as well as considerable experience in risk management and portfolio optimisation.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance, is a Senior Associate of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA), and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course.

Brendan Egan

Brendan Egan is a Non Executive Director of Patersons Securities and was appointed to this position in June 2004.  Prior to this, he served as a Director of Paterson Ord Minnett from August 1996 to August 2002.

Brendan has over 46 years experience in the securities industry in Australia, Asia, USA and in the UK. After working with Cazenove & Co in London, he joined Ord Minnett as a Research Analyst in 1965.  In 1970, he returned to London to manage Ord Minnett’s UK and European clients and subsequently its North American institutional business.  In 1972, he joined the Ord Minnett partnership, and following incorporation in 1984, became a Director of Ord Minnett Group responsible for Institutional dealing and corporate contacts in Melbourne and Asia.  Mr Egan was Deputy Chairman of Ord Minnett from 1990 until the firm was taken over by JPMorganChase Group in 2000 and then served as a Director of JPMorgan Securities Australia Ltd until 2004.

Brendan served as a Director of Australian Stock Exchange Limited from 1992 to 1999 during which time he chaired the Equities Trading Committee and the National Adjudicatory Tribunal.  In 1999 he became the inaugural Chairman of the Securities and Derivatives Industry Association and was appointed a Life Fellow in 2003.  During this period, he also served on the Financial Industry Complaints Service panel (FICS).  Over the past decade, he has been a Trustee for a number of charitable foundations and superannuation funds where he was actively involved in investment strategies.

Brendan is currently a Securities Industry Consultant, specialising in investment and stockmarket issues.

Ian Campbell

Ian Campbell is a Non Executive Director of Patersons Asset Management having been appointed to this position in November 2008. Ian recently retired from a federal political career of 17 years having served a range of senior portfolios in government including as a member of the Cabinet and the Expenditure Reviews Committee from 2004-2007. Prior to joining Cabinet as Environment Minister he served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer where he spearheaded the Corporate Law Economic Reform Programme (CLERP), including reforms to fundraising, takeovers, accounting standards and corporate disclosure. He was also responsible for implementation of the Financial Services Reform Act, and demutualisation of the ASX. He was pivotal in Australia’s adoption of the International Financial Reporting Standards and whilst in the Environment portfolio was a strong advocate of a carbon market.

Ian is a Director of a number of Australian Public listed Companies including Austal Ltd, ASG Group Ltd, Solco Ltd, and Proto Resources and Investments Ltd. He is on the Board of the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation and is Chairman of WA 2011, the organisers of the 2011 ISAF World Sailing Championships.
